About Us
Zoë and Jennie are best friends who love wool! Jennie started in this industry as a dyer in 2011, opening her own brand, Owl About Yarn, in 2014. Zoë is a knitting designer and podcaster - her regularly updated channel on YouTube is The Pins and Needles Podcast. However, this wasn't enough for them, and having noted a scarcity of woolly events in South East Wales, they decided to set up a knitting retreat. Fast forward a few years and there are now twice annual knitting retreats, one in Cardiff and another in Zoë's home town of Stratford-upon-Avon (pandemic-permitting!). And still there was something missing from their repertoire! So, in 2019 came the launch of Cartref Yarn. With the custom-spun, locally produced yarns it combines Zoë's passion for Welsh wool with Jennie's passion for colour.
